Germination test 1, undertaken on June 13, 2012
Location: Nanning, Guangxi, China
Daily temperature: 28-35 centigrade
Totally 7 species of bamboo seeds were selected for germination rate test, which are:
1 - Bambusa 'Ruiliensis'. , Batch NO: BB351205
2 - Dendrocalamus maximuslamina, Batch NO: DC121202
3 - Fargesia albo-cerea 'black' , Batch NO: FG121201
4 - Bambsua polymorpha, Batch NO: BB331202
5 - Phyllostachys moso, Batch NO: PS351111
6- Thyrsostachys oliveri, Batch NO: TH011205
7 - Fargesia yuanjiangensis, Batch NO: FG081109
Steps:
1- Select 10 seeds, remove shells; (Be careful not to damage the seed itself)
2- Wrap seeds seperately with cloth;
3- Wash all seeds together twice;
4- Soak all seeds into warm water (around 25 centigrade) for 16 hours;
5- Soak all seeds in gibberallin solution for 1 hour;
6- Put seeds into a container with wet tissue on the bottom, cover the container;
7 - Put the container on a shaded location.


Taken after Step 5.
2 seeds of Bambusa 'Ruiliensis' already began germinating.



9/10 seeds of Bambusa 'Ruiliensis' germinated;
6/10 seeds of Bambusa polymorpha germianted;
2/10 seeds of Thyrsostachys oliveri germinated, the others infected due to damage to seeds;
The 3 species of seeds were considered of full germination by far. Seedlings were transplanted into soil. The rest 4 species of seeds were moved to a new container.
